Curtin Cutec: 2007

Well well well, as the Organizing Chairperson of Miri Airport Technical Visit, I was being told to write an article describing more on the event. On 14^th September 2007 at 1:15pm, 30 participants including committee members were on their way heading to Miri Airport. Upon arrival, a briefing was given to all the participants by the authorities as well as a few presentations about their vision, mission statement, flight routes to/from Miri, background of Miri and the management team. Later by that, a tour was conducted to all the participants. The tour allows participants to be able to visit the authorized rooms or departments in the main terminal building such as the Airport Server Room, PABX/PA/FIDS Room, Fire Control Room, Baggage claim as well as the runway. Then, the tour is continued to Chiller Service Room which is built far away from the main terminal used mainly to control the air-conditioning system for the terminal building. Next, the tour is then continuing to the Technical Room where the participants were able to know the runway & taxiway lighting is controlled. The most interesting part of the event was the visit to Layang- Layang Aerospace Sdn Bhd helibase. This hangar is mainly used for private airjets as well as helicopters. Participants were able to shoot many photos with the helicopters as well as certain small size airplanes.

As the Organizing Chairperson of this event, I am highly being proud to express billion thanks to all the committee members in helping up to get this event to be successful ones as well as the enthusiastic participants. Hope this event will leave you a memorable trip. I am here to apologize to those unfortunate students who are interested to join this event and could not make it due to a large number of participation and limited seats.
